Mechanical Seals For Shower Pumps
Aqualisa, Salamander, Stuart Turner, Monsoon, Jacuzzi, Bristan, Triton, Watermill are all leading shower pump manufacturers.
Some of them offer consumers up to five years warranty, but what do you do if the unit breaks after this period? Usually if the pump begins to leak the majority of the time it will be down to the mechanical seal unit inside.
The mechanical seal is a device which sits onto the shaft within the housing and works by trapping a microscopic thin layer of water between its faces. When the rotary element rotates with the shaft it then creates a seal against the stationary part.

If you try to purchase a mechanical seals off the manufacturer they will usually advise you to replace the whole unit, with some pumps costing in excess of £500 this is not always the viable solution.
There is another solution! Acumen Seals can supply a mechanical seal for every single power shower at a fraction of the cost of a new unit. The photo above shows just one common type of seal Acumen keep ex-stock.
The common shaft sizes for these types of pumps are 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 12mm and have either Carbon V’s Ceramic faces or Carbon V’s PTFE, both with EPDM. They can deliver to Worldwide destination and have over 20 years experience in mechanical seals.

Many thanks for posting this article. I contacted Acumen Seals and they provided me with the correct seal. The pump has now got the new mechanical seal fitted and the leak (and noise) has now stopped. I’ve saved over £300 on buying a new pump so thanks again.

Hi
I have recently purchased two seals for my aqulisa power shower. Acumen gave me an excellent service and I had the seals within 48 hours. They were quite easy to fit and I saved myself £550, which is what aqualisa wanted for a new power shower. I definately recommend Acumen to anyone who needs a replacement mechanical seal!
